SHEILA POMROY

From the age of 3, Marlena grew up studying ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, theatre dance, musical theatre, voice, and acting at Coupe Theatre Studio, Scarsdale Ballet, and Manhattan Youth Ballet. She excelled in ballet and spent her summers honing her skills at prestigious intensives around the country including, ABT NY, Miami City Ballet, NYSSSA, and Joffrey. She was grateful to study under members of the NYCB whom she looked up to including Lauren Lovett, Maria Kowrowski, Wendy Whelan, Tiler Peck, and Daniel Ulbricht. She performed in the Rockland Youth Dance Ensemble’s production of The Nutcracker for 11 years featured in roles including Sugar Plum Fairy pas de deux, Snow Queen, Marzipan, and Girl Doll, She freelanced as a professional ballet dancer and performed with Warwick Dance Collective in their productions of “The Nutcracker,” as Snow Queen, Marzipan, Flower, and Snowflake, and in “Cinderella,” as Cinderella. She began teaching dance in 2017 and has since taught students age 2-adult, specializing in working with young children. She is passionate about helping her students explore their own relationships with dance, and facilitating growth and self-discovery through movement.
